about
In the fall of 2006 when The Defilers went into their first recording session ever, they wrote and recorded 'Retrieving what is lost'. However, the song remained unfinished, without drums and vocals.
In January 2007 a first attempt was made in the SAE studios in Amsterdam to record the song again under the guidance of a not too experienced young Icelandic producer called Mr. Burns. This first attempt completely failed and Mr. Burns was never to be seen or heard again. (And neither were the 2 minutes of live drums, recorded that day.)
It took till autumn 2008 for another attempt to be made when one of Dr. D.'s friends offered The Defilers to re-record 'Retrieving what is lost' in a professional recording studio in Rotterdam...free of charge.
In a steaming 7 hours The Defilers managed to record drums, bass, guitars, keys and vocals with the help of close friends Janine and Walther in Rocktown Studio's. Also, the mixing and preliminary mastering were done. One thing was missing though; a kick ass guitar solo. One man could do that solo; N-Man, an old friend Joey Retro used to play music with long before he became a Defiler.
The final mastering was done in studio Killing Skills in Amsterdam.
Two and a half years in the making and now in the air...Retrieving what is lost.
